"The Abakua"
The latest CD from the saxophonist/composer Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq
This is the first CD production since the year 2000 and the first production in the last 4 CD productions that Fuasi had recorded in a proper studio setting. All the previous productions, "Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq" (1997), "Fuasimodo Rings A Bell" (1998), and "Fuasi & Ensemble in Café Central in Madrid" (2000) have all been live audience CD productions.
On this CD Fuasi has supporting him is this production, 12 musicians, from the U.S, Germany, Poland and Africa, on various tracks performing his 9 original compositions.
The selected tracks vary from „Straight Ahead“ swinging pieces to Latin influenced selections to African influence „World Music“ tracks. He is performing on tenor sax, soprano sax, flute as well as vocals and various percussions
We believe this CD will prove to be a landmark achievement from Fuasi and show how this artist has grown and matured in his quest since his last CD to become an internationally recognized musician and composer on the world jazz scene.
